Toni Chau

front-end developer

I build applications for the web and iOS - I love what I do.

Hi, my name is Toni Chau. I'm a 27 year old front-end developer living in the Silicon Valley. I took a bit of a scenic route in getting here (my background is actually in cellular biology), but the journey has been well worth it! I currently work at Avira, where I spend most of my time working on great projects. In my spare time, I like to read, play soccer, and dabble on the guitar.

Skillset

I am most familiar with HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and PHP for web development. I am also comfortable using Backbone.js and am currently learning Node.js. I believe in clean and extensible coding.

I am very interested in custom application development for iOS. I am currently using Objective-C to build native iOS iPhone applications.

I am proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator. I'm all about a minimalistic aesthetic -- less is more! I think that the best way to attract attention is through a clean and easy-to-understand design.

Projects I've worked on

Avira's Anti-Theft web application: this application provides users with the ability to track their mobile devices from the web. It also allows users to activate a "Yell" or "Lock" function. This application leverages Google's Maps API and was built using Backbone.js for the front end.

Avira's Mobile Security iPhone application: this application is used in conjunction with the Anti-Theft web application, and allows users to track lost devices. This application was built in Objective-C.

A simple wedding website that I designed for a friend. This static site was built using HTML/CSS and JavaScript.
